Raycast is a powerful productivity tool for macOS (and soon for Windows) that replaces the native Spotlight command center. In this session, we’ll explore Raycast’s features and capabilities, showing you how it can save you time and simplify your daily tasks and workflows.

I’ll also share my own Raycast setup, along with practical tips and tricks. Plus, I’ll discuss my philosophy on how to take control of your computer, tools, and workflows with just a few keystrokes.

Daniel began by mentioning that he previously used Alfred as an alternative for macOS’s Spotlight search function. Now, he uses Raycast, which has even more functionality than Alfred.

Some of the functions include the following, which are either native to the app or accessible via extensions created by Raycast or the community:

• Opening apps
• Searching the web
• Conversions using natural language
• Search for files or screenshots, which are searchable with OCR
• Options to improve workflow and often replace the need for other apps by using a secondary window, quickly accessible with a shortcut (⌘ K)
• Quick links, which can also have dynamic placeholders (such as to Maps or YouTube), which saves time when accessing sites. These can also link to a file on your computer, such as a frequently accessed file like an image of a passport.
• Built-in window management – alias, hotkey
• Clipboard history
• Snippets, which can save info that is used often. These can have a name and can also include a cursor position. A use case would be an IBAN for a bank account.
• Text replacements can be imported and used as shortcuts
