In these 45 minutes I'll show you a tool I am building with Claude Code.

As a minimalist and visual thinker, I am building a single overview of my entire book collection. Analog and digital books are all shown in one book grid.

I want my tool to:

• Be simple
• Have a visual grid display
• Work without a separate database
• Be cross-platform
• Work offline, without accounts, tracking or cloud dependency
• Be adjustable
• Detect duplicate books
• Work for all book formats
• Enable metadata management
• Work well with Obsidian

As I demonstrate the tool I'll talk about the bumps on the road and the questions I asked myself during development.

Hopefully this will bring up a discussion with the audience.

Why are we vibe coding? For personal needs and/or to share our tools with others?

How do we design our tools? Do we try to be as efficient as possible or do we allow some meandering and playfulness? Do we design for the future? For digital autonomy? For accessibility? Do we comply to best practices or work according to our own preferences? When do we consider our tool to be finished? Do we trust others to make changes to our tool? And what do we do if they want to choose a different path than the one that we would choose?
